OK, I've just downloaded Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Server edition, and I want to upgrade from 6.06 desktop, just to save a bit more space and improve performance.

(I'm a Linux newbie, so I stuck with the desktop to help me get my barrings, now I'm going into intense CLI training mode, LOL)

So how do I do this upgrade with out loosing my days worth of "How To Forge - ISPConfig on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS" setup?

if you do apt-get remove ubuntu-desktop on your desktop machine, it will remove the desktop manager, and you will be left with the command line. no need to re-install. if you use kde replace ubuntu-desktop with kubuntu-desktop
