dig command

    hi guys actually im using how to run our own name server ispconfig and godaddy

    and i replace erikturk.com to zambahotels.com and iwolfpacks.com to harmoneehotels.com

    but when i dig @ns1.zambahotels.com any harmoneehotels.com
    it says connection timeout no server could be reached

    What's the output of

    netstat -tap
    and
    Code:
    netstat -uap
    on ns1.zambahotels.com? Is port 53 (TCP and UDP!) open in the firewall?

    Are you sure that ns1.zambahotels.com exists in DNS? Try:

    dig @localhost harmoneehotels.com

    This command has to be excuted on the shell of the the server that runs the dns.

    That result is fine, it shows that your dns server is configured correctly for that domain. So the probem seems to be that ns1.zambahotels.com does not exist in DNS.

    Please check if the dns server that runs the zone zambahotels.com has a DNS A-Record for ns1.zambahotels.com that points to the IP address of the DNS Server for the zone harmoneehotels.com

    this is what i had configured in ispconfig 3 once i installed

    i logged in to the ispconfig
    then as follows,
    System>serverconfig>server.zambahotels.com>then
    network configuration unchecked check box
    IP address > 203.117.114.179
    netmask >255.255.255.240
    gateway > 203.117.114.177
    hostname>server.zambahotels.com
    nameservers> 203.116.1.78,203.116.1.94

    server IP address> add new IP address
    server.zambahotels.com > 203.117.114.179
    server.zambahotels.com > 203.117.114.181

    dns main tab
    dns>add dns zone
    server >server.zambahotels.com
    zone SOA > harmoneehotels.com
    nameservers >ns1.zambahotels.com
    email >......

    these are things i had configured once i installed rest all the record for harmonehotels.com are created automatically so is there any thing i need to configure still

    The zone harmoneehotels.com is ok as I expolained above, so there is no probem on your server. I talked about a problem in the zone zambahotels.com.

    what do you mean by zone zambahotels

    is it something i need to configure in ispconfig 3 or i need to configure in godaddy domain panel

    actually as i follow the how to?
    i login to the godaddy domain manager and then
    total dns control> add new A record >then
    hostaname > ns1
    point to IP address > 203.117.114.179

    then,

    Host summary > add > then
    Hostname> NS1
    Host IP > 203.117.114.179

    then i login to the harmoneehotels domain manager

    set nameservers > ns1.zambahotels.com and ns32.domaincontrol.com

    is still i need to configure????

    here i compared the dig for ns32.domaincontrol.com and dig for ns1.zambahotels.com, where ns32.domaincontrol.com is another nameserver for harmoneehotels.com

    Your named is listening only on localhost (127.0.0.1) instead of on all interfaces. What's in your named.conf?
