    Hello there,

As my managed VPS solution is very problematic for email service, considered switching to digital ocean which means leaving Plesk boat.

So ISPConfig seems a good option, (I had tried it before but not for production), I intend to use Digital Ocean but as they don't allow extra IP for one instance, have to get two instances. I just thought that if I am getting extra instance for nameserver purposes, why not also use second one as dedicated mail server as well.

But in this case , I am not really sure how to achieve this (based on walkthrough here).

    My scenario is

Install according to Perfect Server Guide to instance 1 without mail stuff. Then install mail stuff to second one. But do I have to install BIND to both?

And most important is how will I configure ISPConfig to work happily ever after with this setup.

PS : Wish I had more time to find by myself but angry mob of clients unable to use email service is at the door :)

PSS : I am comfortable with Debian

    Please see multiserver setup guide:

    http://www.howtoforge.com/multiserv...se-servers-on-debian-squeeze-with-ispconfig-3

you can combine the services mail, web, dns and database in any way you like on the servers. so a server can be web + db server and another one just email and dns can be separate or it can be on the mail or web instance.

The multiserver guide is not up to date, so better use the latest perfect servr guide as basis and just picck the parts relevant for the multiservers etup (mysql root users in master db and hosts file settings) from multiserver guide.

Becarefull with DigitalOcean IP's, because I've also had a VPS there with a mailserver for one of my client and I and up being blocked seding mail to Yahoo!. Of course, I've tried to delist from them but no luck. Test all major email providers before production.
