I only have 1 partition and I want to create a directory without quota. What should I do? Is it possible to bind mount a folder and omit the quota? Or should I use a VHD? Or is LVM the way to go? Thanks, Yves
Do you have quota enabled on that disk partition? If you do not want quota at all, disable it. I believe it is not possible to assign quota per directory. It is assigned to user, so you could assign infinite or very large quota for the user that owns that directory. I do not know how VHD or LVM would help here. What should work is creating a new disk partition, not enable quota on that partition and create the directory on this partition. Mount it or bind mount.
Yes quota is enabled and unfortunately I need quota, so I cannot disable it globally. The disk is completely partitioned, so creating another partition is not really an option. VHD or LVM might help at they are another partition or am I mistaken? So bind mount without quota isn't possible?
