Disable spam filter for a domain and mailboxes not running

Discussion in 'General' started by servidoresadmin.com, Dec 23, 2021.

  1. Hi,
We have disabled spam filters on a domain and all mailboxes under last ispconfig 3 (ISPConfig Version: 3.2.7p1), but when one internal mail from same domain is sending a mail to another email of the same domain is going to spam folder.

We can't disable spam filter on same domain. Please help.

    thanks,

    Jordi.

Can you post example logs? Eg. I'm wondering what spam filter you are using, and what port you are sending on.

You must choose uncensored spamfilter policy for the domain. Not selecting a policy means the server wide defaults get applied (at least for amavis systems) which means that spam get's filtered (with a less strict level).

  4. We have put domain uncensored and mail accounts uncensored. We have put in the white list. We restart amavis. But mails sended from same domain are going to spam folder:

Are you sure that the mail is put into spam folder by ISPConfig and not by the email client that you use to view the emails? The spam score is already negative, so it should not trigger any spam action in ISPConfig. Or maybe you use custom sieve scripts that do it or your sieve templates in ispconfig are customized?

  6. Hello Till,
We send from roundcube on localhost. We don't have any custom sieve script. We delete the mail account and recreate to test. But we send from [email protected] to [email protected] from localhost in roundcube and mails are going to spam folder ( /var/vmail/domain.es/mail2/Maildir/.Junk/cur )
We upgrade ispconfig and delete and recreate mail account, but same results: mails are going to junk folder....

    Thanks,

    Jordi.

As @till indicated, this message was saved into INBOX, not Junk. Try sending a new message and confirm that it is in the INBOX before accessing the mail2 account in any mail client, and work from there. I believe roundcube has some 'scan for junk' type features, though I don't use them and am not familiar with them, but if it seems to be roundcube moving your message, examine your roundcube config and post it here if needing further assistance.

  8. Hello we are investigating and we can't understand who is moving mail to spam folder. If we move the file from spam directory to /cur of the mailbox, the file is returned to spam folder.
We configure in ispconfig "Do not move spam to Junk folder" and we have move to a new server with last ispconfig and debian 10. But same issue.
We are out of roundcube, but file is moved to spam folder and we do not know who is doing. We are 90% thinking it is a ispconfig issue.

    Thanks

ISPConfig is not moving delivered emails from one folder to another, there is no function in ISPConfig that can do this. The only way that ISPConfig can filter emails is when they get handed from postfix to dovecot, then dovecot filters get applied. But this never happens to an email that is already in a mail folder. Most likely another mail client is connected to the same mailbox via IMAP which moves the email based on its local filter system and rules.

You can identify from your mail.log the ip address of the client which does this. IMAP sessions can be long-running, so you might want to restart dovecot as you recreate this test, so you readily have all ip addresses logged which are accessing the mailbox in question.

  11. Hello,
I want to explain the solution of this enigma to help someone in the future. The server is not moving mails at all to spam. The client is who moves it. It was very difficult to investigate, because after we change the password on mail account, the client don't stop to be able to move mails to spam folder. We need to change the password of the mail account, and then we have to restart services. After this we can verify the root cause of moving mails is from the client.

Thanks to all and I hope to help someone in the future.
