As far as I can tell I have everything setup correctly. I have looked it over till I can't see it.

I goto mxtoolbox.com and I am getting the following:
    mx lookup for redtalkers.net
Loop detected! We were referred back to '23.31.67.21'
    a:redtalkers.net
Loop detected! We were referred back to '23.31.67.21'
    dns:redtalkers.net
None of the name servers responded in a timely manner

Now I do redtalkers.com and it comes out fine
    mx:redtalkers.com
    10 mail.redtalkers.com 23.31.67.21 60 min Blacklist Check SMTP Test

Usually I can look through the posting on forums and find what I am doing wrong but this one has me stumped.

Thank you in advance for the help on this matter.

The A-Records for the NS records are missing. If NS records are subdomains of the same zone, then this zone must contains A-Records for them as well. add 2 new a-records to the zone, one for "ns1" and one for "ns2" pointing to the IP address of your server.

ok, "old man puts his glasses on"

Should there also be a A record containing @ 23.31.67.21?

Just wanted to add that the above did fix the problem

No. @ is just an alias for redtalkers.org., so you have that records already:

    redtalkers.org. 3600 A 23.31.67.21
