I recently setup debian10 with ISPConfig 3.x without DNS enabled. Now I wish to enable / install DNS (bind) on the same box. While searching on howtoforge, I found the below tutorial: https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/setting-up-your-own-name-service-with-ispconfig/ Is this still valid / same for my case ? Thanks
It is still valid, but it shows just how to set up DNS records and not to install BIND on servers where the dns installation was left out. To install BIND on your system, follow the instructions from perfect server guide to install BIND. Then download ispconfig, unpack it, run update.php and choose to reconfigure services. Choose to configure BIND dns when the updater asks you. Beside that, you probably have to enable dns under system > server services in ISPConfig.
