    Hi

I need some help with DNS (not very good with DNS literally a newbie), this is really confusing for me. I am using third party DNS service at the moment and I do not want to use my own DNS, as I only have one live IP address & aslo some other reasons.

But at the same time I would like to use a ISPconfig control panel for my webserver & mail server.

At the moment the I have done all the DNS entries in the third party DNS Server which is pointing to the live IP address of my router and then from the router I have port forwardiong and NAT enabled.

Now this is where the confusion is,in the ISPconfig you need to enter name servers & other DNS entries and my nameservers are remote, I have done all the entries inthe remote DNS server.

Because I have NAT enabled can I put remote DNS entries in ISPconfig (that wont work will it?) or should i be doing something else like zone transfer(any examples).

How do i get things working. too confused.

Any help please. thanks in advance :)

In your scenario, you dont need the ISPConfig DNS serveices at all, so just dont use them.

Thanks for the advice, but that means i can still use other features of ISPConfig, like configure mail and give users a domain CP.

Sure you can use all features without using the ISPConfig dns manager.
