    Hi all,

    As this is my first time with the installation below, I am basically just wanting confirmation(read encouragement) from you that I am on the right track, specifically with regards to the [TEST RESULT]. Please see below:

    I have this installation:
    http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-ubuntu-12.04-lts-apache2-bind-dovecot-ispconfig-3

    Everything works as expected. I can send AND receive mail via Squirrelmail.

    myowndomain.tld is NOT registered yet.

    But my registrar did create an MX record for [mail.myowndomain.tld]
    in their zone on NS1.REGISTRARSDOMAIN.TLD and NS2.REGISTRARSDOMAIN.TLD

    DIG and NSLOOKUP confirms the above.

    My IP does NOT resolve to myowndomain.tld (yet).
    My IP DOES have an MX record [mail.myowndomain.tld] - I think.

    Before they can register [myowndomain.tld] to point to my IP, my registrar requires a functioning SMTP server at my IP which is capable of receiving mail for postmaster- and [email protected]

    When doing an smtp test AGAINST MY IP here...
    https://www.wormly.com/test_smtp_server

    ...I get the following result...

    Connecting...
    SMTP -> FROM SERVER:
    220 mail.myowndomain.tld ESMTP Postfix (Ubuntu)
    SMTP -> FROM SERVER:
    250-mail.myserver
    250-PIPELINING
    250-SIZE
    250-VRFY
    250-ETRN
    250-STARTTLS
    250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN
    250-AUTH=PLAIN LOGIN
    250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
    250-8BITMIME
    250 DSN
    MAIL FROM: [email protected]
    SMTP -> FROM SERVER:
    250 2.1.0 Ok
    RCPT TO: [email protected]
    SMTP -> FROM SERVER:
    250 2.1.5 Ok
    Sending Mail Message Body...
    SMTP -> FROM SERVER:
    354 End data with .
    SMTP -> FROM SERVER:
    250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as 37BD92608
    Message completed successfully.

    Can i go back to my Registrar with this ?

    Thank you kindly.
    Jamie.
