Hello I am using CentOS 6. I tried to get 2dns form my registry and they told me they need 2 ips for 2 dns if i supply only one ip i get one dns, also they will not accept the static IP from my router, i don't know if what they saying is right ! i used one ip before and 2 dns, so that raised another question: how i will put 2 ips if i can get them on the network connection on eth0 ? or in hosts file ? Thanks in advance for help will be appreciated. Kadi
Each registry handles this differently. Some might accept one IP, some require two, and some others even need the IPs to be in different subnets. In fact you gain no reliability by using just one IP, because if that system fails, both nameservers are down. And it makes no sense ti run two nameservers on different local IPs behind a router because you can forward port 53 (TCP and UDP) to just one local IP.
Thanks hello mr/Falko Thanks much you explained clearly to me and i thank you for that and for your reply. kadi
