Hi, Ubuntu Server 10.04 ISPConfig 3 New installation Single Server Setup Tutorial: The Perfect Server - ISPConfig3 - Ubuntu 10.04 Quick question: Have followed the tutorial and have done the "aptitude update" and "aptitude safe-upgrade" but appearing onscreen is the message regarding the "do-release-upgrade"! Which is the best thing to do? To do the release-upgrade now before installing the ISPConfig 3 CP or wait with the release-upgrade until after the installation??? Looking forward to your response Kind Regards, Dan
In my opinion, it is better to upgrade your system before installing ISPConfig 3, but it shouldn't matter either way. Regards, Darin
doing just that Hi Darin, Thanks my friend, will do the upgrade now! Thanks Hope that this will not take to long - did you see my question regarding the "NameVirtualHost *:443 has no VirtualHosts" ??? Here is one of the issues I have been struggeling with Do you know what this problem is about? I have nerver been working with Virtual stuff, when I had my company I used IIS servers and only the nameservers were Unix/Linux based - at the same time we had all the IPnumbers we needed so every costumer got a IP-adress for there setup/system.. Therefore, if you have any info regarding virtual-related systems/setup please don't hesitate to speak/write to me as a 5-year old * Stopping Courier POP3-SSL server... ...done. * Starting Courier POP3-SSL server... ...done. * Restarting web server apache2 [Tue Apr 02 00:05:21 2013] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:443 has no VirtualHosts [Tue Apr 02 00:05:21 2013] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHosts [Tue Apr 02 00:05:22 2013] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:443 has no VirtualHosts [Tue Apr 02 00:05:22 2013] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHosts ... waiting ...done. doing release upgrade - keep exixting files/settings/passwords etc. Hi, During the release-upgrade I am asked a lot of times, if I want to keep the files/settings which has been modified by me (the system says) Right now its rkhunter (translated from danish) "There is a new version of the configuration file /etc/default/rkhunter, but your version has been changed. What do you want to do with configuration file rkhunter? install package.... version keep my aktual-installed version show diff... show diff... begin a new....... <o.k.> (Again, please notice it's translated from danish) I've been choosing to keep, keep, keep.... Hope this is the right thing to do My God this &¤%/#/%(/&# Kind Regards, Dan
Reinstallation complete, OS upgrade complete - creating NS-records Hi Darin, Reinstallation complete & OS upgrade complete. Setting Nameserver records up - has to be ready 8.00 am - where the domain used for the nameserver/which is hosting itself will be "redirected" (ns modified, doesn't know the uk word for this) Testing/Nameserver Lookup: ; Candidate name server: 88.182.xxx.xxx ; Asked for mydomain.tld, type ANY ; 209 octets from 88.182.xxx.xxx ; Response code: NOERROR ; Answer contains 5 answers to your query. Still, there were those warnings mentioned above/below regarding [Tue Apr 02 00:05:21 2013] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:443 has no VirtualHosts and some notifications during the OS release-upgrade as mentioned below/above.. Signing off until 7 am. Need a brake Kind Regards, Dan
Will ignore those warnings Hi, That was a easy fix I will do just that. Sorry for asking about the same thing twice Kind Regards, Dan
I sympathise with the sigh... Falko's right, we must have read about those httpd virtual host warnings hundreds of times now! Come on people, please search for and read related threads before you post about your issues. Both Falko and Till have answered this question many times now. All of the answers are here if you look for them... This is superb software and a fantastic community, thank you guys!
I would be more than happy to do this, RSInfotech. Will you please point me to the first forums posting for this question?
My case in point: simply search for 'virual hosts', there are lots of posts about it, it's even discussed in the sticky for 3.0.5.2. but ultimately, it isn't even an issue! Most people seem to have noticed this since the latest upgrade but I've been running ISPConfig on a CentOS server since 2008 with these warnings and it isn't an issue...
Hi Darin & Rich - Can you help me with this? It's driving me crazy... Darin & Rich There is 2 threads. 1 where the problem is discussed and 1 thread from 4.58 this morning where I tried, again, to explain the problem so that you guys have a chance to se what the problem is - I know someone can solve it, if only I could explain it the right way I would so very much like you to look at it, because I am in a really unhappy situation now. Please look at it when you have got the time If you did see it, I'm sorry for that. I'm getting pretty confused - and pretty g.. d... desperate Here's thread 1: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?p=295404#post295404 Here's thread 2: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61301 Is there some kind of test/log that I could show you which would make it easier for you to help me? Is there some kind of service from inhere (the forum) where I can get som online help? I read somewhere, that help regarding ispconfig 3 configuration was offered, and cost's X euro. I'm not sure where I saw it, but I pretty sure it was some of the same places as the ispconfig 3 manual was downloaded. I'm so lost now and I looked so much forward to designing my internetshop - not fighting this problem.. Thanks for your help guys... Kind Regards, Dan
