I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work unless stretch implemented a radical change in it's version. Typically Debian don't do drastic changes as Windows do. Only way to know for sure is to try it out.
I tested with Debian Stretch. Because ISPconfig already contained hosted sites. I had to make a lot of changes from the original in the tutorial.
I tested that on Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 with minor modifications and it also worked fine on both of them.
