I have a few questions regarding a ispconfig server setup as I am still trying to learn and grasp the whole server and dns concept.
Say if I give a server the host and domain of server1.example.com.

Can I setup the mail services on server1.example.com to reply as mail.example.com instead of server1.* ?

Also on same server does the ispconfig control panel have to listen to server1.* or can it listen on say cpanel.example.com ?

Thanks for any comments in advance.

Yes. Just set the hostname and mydomain variables in postfix main.cf.

The controlpanel does not depend on a hostname, as it listens on all interfaces on port 81.

Thanks Till, I figured I could from what I have read but sometimes I need a confirmation from others to just be sure I actually understood what I have read. :)
