Hello, Can login to ISPCONFIG 3 interface only when I type the internal/external IP address. But cannot use the domain name, however I have added name server with my registrar two days ago now. Here is a summary of my setup, Please help. When i try to view the website using the public IP address , I get to see the Linux website sample where it says It works! and i do not get to see the ISPCONFIG 3 index file. Linux Distribution and version used on your server. Apply additional information - "How ToDo" after installing the "ISPConfig3 Server" Hi, Please start your post with information of your system - include the things I'm asking you about beneath. It take's to much time if we have to ask about it, when all you need to do is to make a "header" template to insert whenever you post a new post. (Just an idea) First step! ISPConfig3 Manual": http://docs.ispconfig.org/dns-basics/ "...Can login to ISPCONFIG 3 interface only when I type the internal/external IP address. But cannot use the domain name, however I have added name server with my registrar two days ago now. Here is a summary of my setup, Please help. When i try to view the website using the public IP address , I get to see the Linux website sample where it says It works! and i do not get to see the ISPCONFIG 3 index file..." 1. Is it Ubuntu Server or Desktop? 2. Is it "Single Server Setup" (nameserver, mailserver, webserver, sqlserver on the same server? 3. Is your WAN IP a fixed IP or do you use any kind of DDNS service If "No" - Stop right here... If "Yes" - please go on. 4. There is no single "index.file" to find for the ISPconfig Server! You need to read the manual! All sites has to be created: DNS-records, create client, create website, create maildomain, create mailbox etc. etc.) Short info right here: http://docs.ispconfig.org/dns-basics/ But, you need to download the real manual! You can get it here: http://docs.ispconfig.org/dns-basics/ 5. Did you test your primary nameserver at your ISP technical support/site? Or on another test site? Did you set up the secondary nameserver to (ns2.somednsservice.tld) and did you set up the secondary nameserver to work only as secondary nameserver. 6. Did you set up the IP-numbers for the second nameserver in your ISPconfig CP?: Allow zone transfers to these IPs (comma separated list) 7. Did you make a "glue-record" for your primary nameserver in your ISPConfig DNS setup 8. .... Well, I have more questions, but I would like some answers first. let's see how long this will take you
Thanks for the reply and excuse a newbie, here is what you have asked for: 1- Ubuntu 12.04 server. 2- single server setup. as per http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-ubuntu-12.04-lts-apache2-bind-dovecot-ispconfig-3 3- WAN is 2 static IP addresses. 4- What I meant by default index is what you have at the bottom of this document where it says "welcome to your website !" with a green banner I have bought the manual already. 5- I tested ns1 and ns2 name server that I have created at the regitrar and the results are OK and it shows my public IP addresses. 6- I did not but now I have added only one IP as it says "Xfer: Please use an IP address" 7- I have creatd name servers as I mentioned in 5. Any help is appreciated. Thanks,
Update Added nameserver DNS A record and now I can see the website from any computer outside of my network. E-mail still not working. Thanks in advance,
ISPconfig - mailserver problem - check port 25 and mailserver ability to send/receive Hi, No need for excuses I am fighting the mailserver too! Check that port 25 is open . you need to check it from the outside: To test "port 25" from the outside: https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 Then hit: "proceed" Then hit "common ports" (If you wish to test more than the common ports, hit "All service ports" instead.) Your stuff will be tested... After the test: Then hit "Text summary" and you will be able to see if port 25 is open! Then to test your mailserver SMTP Goto: "http://mxtoolbox.com/" Enter this: "mx:yourdomain.tld" or "mx:youripnumber" The service will test your servers ability to receive/send mail.. You can read the info and try some other stuff to .. Your results should look a lttle like this: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- smtp:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Monitor This smtp 220 server1.yourdomain ESMTP Postfix SMTP Reverse Banner Check OK - xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx resolves to "some text from your ISP" SMTP Reverse DNS Mismatch Warning - Reverse DNS does not match SMTP Banner SMTP TLS Warning - Does not support TLS.
