Quick question: I like the concept of Google Docs. I want to know if it's possible to use some combination of LAMP and OpenOffice to do the same thing but for a private network? ie clients on the network to use firefox for documents like google docs etc. Thanks.
No, that would still require each client to install openoffice and would require each require to use webdav. I wanna do what google docs does: provide via http interface. Thanks.
Then you would have to write the http enabled applications or install something like webasyst (http://www.webasyst.net/). There may be a foss solution someone else can suggest. Another thought is to run a virtual machine server where you have the applications installed on the virtual machine and users access thru remote desktops.
