I'm running into weird dovecot crashes running webmail doing services etc like: --snip-- Jun 27 08:34:42 ns10 dovecot[399762]: imap([email protected])<934205><g971I23i4MHAqAIU>: Error: Raw backtrace: /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot.so.0(+0xf895b) [0x7f46804c095b] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot.so.0(+0xf89f7) [0x7f46804c09f7] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot.so.0(+0x55b05) [0x7f468041db05] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot.so.0(+0x526a8) [0x7f468041a6a8] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot.so.0(message_parser_parse_next_block+0x10c) [0x7f46804a375c] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot.so.0(message_search_msg+0xa8) [0x7f46804a5d88] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot-storage.so.0(+0xdb92e) [0x7f468085b92e] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot-storage.so.0(mail_search_args_foreach+0x4d) [0x7f46807d965d] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot-storage.so.0(+0xdc3cb) [0x7f468085c3cb] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot-storage.so.0(+0xdd6d8) [0x7f468085d6d8] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot-storage.so.0(index_storage_search_next_nonblock+0x11d) [0x7f468085de0d] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot-storage.so.0(mailbox_search_next_nonblock+0x2c) [0x7f46807e361c] -> dovecot/imap(+0x28bff) [0x55e1b0fe7bff] -> dovecot/imap(command_exec+0x78) [0x55e1b0fe0cd8] -> dovecot/imap(+0x28176) [0x55e1b0fe7176] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot.so.0(io_loop_handle_timeouts+0x141) [0x7f46804d7ed1] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot.so.0(io_loop_handler_run_internal+0xcf) [0x7f46804d970f] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot.so.0(io_loop_handler_run+0x50) [0x7f46804d8170] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot.so.0(io_loop_run+0x48) [0x7f46804d82d8] -> /usr/lib64/dovecot/libdovecot.so.0(master_service_run+0x17) [0x7f468044feb7] -> dovecot/imap(main+0x335) [0x55e1b0fd1445] -> /lib64/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xf3) [0x7f467fb3b7b3] -> dovecot/imap(_start+0x2e) [0x55e1b0fd15fe] Jun 27 08:34:42 ns10 dovecot[399762]: imap([email protected])<934205><g971I23i4MHAqAIU>: Fatal: master: service(imap): child 934205 killed with signal 6 (core not dumped - http --snip-- I'm running dovecot 2.3.8 and it seems from my research several of these issues have been resolved in more recent versions! but here's the snag I'm running Centos 8, *NOT STREAM* so the old repositories are kaput. Any idea how to (safely) upgrade dovecot manually?? thanks! cdb. ps ANOTHER MONTH and STILL non threatening titles!
Hi Craig, Being such a long time user you must know we *love* it when users use the CODE tags (Insert -> Code) in their posts to share logs to make them readable Can you share some more of your log? By the way, you need to resolve the repo issue anyway, so look into that. I personally recommend all ISPConfig users to use Debian 11 (or Ubuntu if they prefer that over Debian). But you can also migrate to a different RHEL based release we support.
Is this a virtual machine or a physical server? is dovecot the only service that has issues, or other services as well?
ack me bad. sorry thought it was only a couple lines so I put it between old-fashioned (i know) --snips--. dam wordwrap the line above what I posted above was actually: Panic: file message-parser.c: line 174 (message_part_finish): assertion failed: (ctx->nested_parts_count > 0) I was doing a text search. the crash is noted here: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=970386 and apparently it was fixed by 2.3.11. I'm running 2.3.8 dovecot alas hence need to upgrade dovecot!
my servers are all physical. do you support Rockylinux by change? one of the Centos 8 replacements supposed to be simple. but is it EVER simple?
