I'm running into weird dovecot crashes running webmail doing services etc like:

I'm running dovecot 2.3.8 and it seems from my research several of these issues have been resolved in more recent versions!
but here's the snag I'm running Centos 8, *NOT STREAM* so the old repositories are kaput. Any idea how to (safely) upgrade dovecot manually??
    thanks!
    cdb.
ps ANOTHER MONTH and STILL non threatening titles!

    Hi Craig,

Being such a long time user you must know we *love* it when users use the CODE tags (Insert -> Code) in their posts to share logs to make them readable ;)

Can you share some more of your log?

By the way, you need to resolve the repo issue anyway, so look into that. I personally recommend all ISPConfig users to use Debian 11 (or Ubuntu if they prefer that over Debian). But you can also migrate to a different RHEL based release we support.

Is this a virtual machine or a physical server? is dovecot the only service that has issues, or other services as well?

ack me bad. sorry thought it was only a couple lines so I put it between old-fashioned (i know) --snips--. dam wordwrap :)
the line above what I posted above was actually:
    Panic: file message-parser.c: line 174 (message_part_finish): assertion failed: (ctx->nested_parts_count > 0)
I was doing a text search. the crash is noted here:
    https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=970386
and apparently it was fixed by 2.3.11. I'm running 2.3.8 dovecot alas :(
    hence need to upgrade dovecot!

    my servers are all physical.

do you support Rockylinux by change? one of the Centos 8 replacements supposed to be simple. but is it EVER simple?

    iirc Rocky Linux should work.
