Hi Guys! I have a problem with one of my email systems. Actually, I followed Sir Falko's Perfect server and then I installed Squirrelmail as my webmail client. This is the situation, I will send email to my friend using squirrelmail and attaching a file to my message (the filename of the attached file is example.pdf). My friends will then recieve the email using MS Outlook or Outlook Express, but the the attachment was renamed to ATT0001.dat. Its really weird, all outlook express msoutlook clients were recieving the email with the attachment ATT0001.dat or AT0002.dat... and so on. But when I send the same email to some of my friends using thunderbird or yahoo mail, the attachment was ok. Did you have any of these experience? Is the problem on my email system? Thanks. Cheers, Joel
No Sir it didn't show any errors on the email and nothing was changed on the email except that the attachment was renamed to AT00001.dat or sometimes AT00003... and so on.. But it only occurs on ms outlook and outlook express users who received my email. On other email users my email was just fine. Joel
Actually, for example, the file I attached was example.pdf, when it arrives to my recipient, it was renamed as AT0009.dat. but when I he/she saves the attachment and rename it as example.pdf. It can be opened without errors. Its as if the attachment was just renamed. I dont know if this is an issue with outlook or msoutlook. because other email clients clients can recieve the attachments without any problem. Joel
My logs are clean. No errors. But what I noticed is I encountered this in Ubuntu 8.10 servers. On 8.04, nothing of this problems. Joel
Is your SquirrelMail running on port 81? If so, are there any errors in the error log in /root/ispconfig/httpd/logs?
Yes. Everything is fine with the ports. I used 80. I didn't use ISPconfig but what I noticed is all the servers that I made with Ubuntu 8.10 has the problem. But Ubuntu 8.04 has no problem at all with the attachment. I will just try to rebuild again the perfect server on Ubuntu 8.10 then I will post again if the problem still occurs. Thank you very much sir. Joel
