Hi all, I will need to migrate an email server (dedicated, run on a multi server setup) to another machine/hardware and I was wondering which method is the most suitable to minimize downtime and most important to transfer mailboxes/settings without loosing any settings. Kind regards
Use the migration toolkit and HAProxy to route traffic from the old to the new host immediately after copying the latest emails. https://www.ispconfig.org/add-ons/ispconfig-migration-tool/
If you want to move just one node, which is connected to a master to a new server while keeping this node connected to the (old) master, then use ISPCopy, which is part of the Migration Toolkit as well.
I'm going to take off the old server once I do the migration. Is there a url with a tutorial how to do that with the migration toolkit? @Th0m I will lower down the TTL value on all domains a few days before the migration and after the switch will be nearly instant the resolve to the new server. I've done that in the past several times and nobody (from the clients perspective) realize the transfer.
