Encrypting and/or signing system notifications

I'm not sure if this is a common practice or not. I'm interested in using pgp/gpg to sign and/or encrypt system emails (ex. fail2ban hits, yum-cron errors, etc). It seems to me that the notifications could easy be spoofed and, if intercepted, be of great use to an attacker.

I have found nothing in regards to it, I think my google-fu must be off. Everything I find is how to set-up PGP for regular use.

Could someone point me in the right direction? I use centos 6.5 on my servers.

    Thanks for reading,
    Charles
