entering password in terminal

    I have Suse 10.3 on a vpr matrix laptop. When I use the terminal and type su and it asks for password, I am uable to type the password into the terminal. If I then press enter, it says wrong password. Why is my key entry blocked?

    It's normal that the password isn't shown when you type it in. The cursor doesn't even move.
