    Hi,

    The Problem:
Each time I've updated ISPConfig I had to manually disabling Amavis content filter by editing postfix configuration files,
and of course if I missed something the mail server becomes broken.

I known that ISPConfig asks during update if I want to reconfigure services or not. I always let it reconfigure the services because I don't know whether there is something in the updated version needs to reconfigure some service, as a caution I let it reconfigure the services and the result is re-enabling Amavis as well.

    Question:
How to avoid this by excluding Amavis content filter form being configured/reconfigured on ISPConfig update process, or even exclude it from the the whole installation ?

    Thank you in advance.

While I have no definite answer to your question, mostly because I don't know what problem Amavis causes you, may I ask you another:
Instead of fighting against Amavis, why not try to make it work?
This way, any future upgrade will be painless

I'm not fighting Amavis!, with the respect to it :) there is two reasons for me to disable it:

    1) When I let it works, it causes randomly memory overflow, and as a result the mail service become unstable,
it seems to be a memory eater.
    2) I prefer to fight spam at the client's end.

So the question still stands how to just disable it in a decent way ?

Uninstall amavis so the updater will not reconfigure amavis
