External USB Drive

    Hello you all,

    I'am having trouble with my external usb harddisk (320GB Seagate), after a certain amount of time it disconnects itself, especially during reading and writing. The drive is attached to a PCI USB 2.0 card wich is fully recognized by Ubuntu 6.06.
    Is this a problem with the PCI Card, or is this something in Ubuntu. ??

    The logs are in /var/log. Usually /var/log/syslog and /var/log/messages are the most important ones, but the names might differ from distribution to distribution.

    I will look in the logs in about 3 weeks, i have to go away for my job....:( :( :(
