Fail2Ban depends on Shorewall?

I just finished "Perfect Setup for Fedora Core 10" and installed ispconfig. Other than missing mod_ssl (second time on FC10) it was perfect. THANK YOU GUYS...

I really like Fail2Ban, but just now as I tried to install it with yum (yum install fail2ban) it wanted to load Shorewall firewall etc. as dependencies. I want to use the ispConfig firewall, not shorewall.

Is there a better way to install Fail2Ban than with yum?

Maybe you can install fail2ban with yum but dont start the shorewall script? As far as I know daemons on fedora dont get started and activated automatically, so it might work.

    Fail2ban without Shorewall

    Thank you Till,

I used yum and installed fail2ban with Shorewall. Both, of course, installed fine.

When I checked, the install left Shorewall disabled and did not start it, so all that was left to do was configure fail2ban with iptables and start it.

    Thanks again,

    Richard
