About 2 months ago fail2ban stopped banning anything. It would start up ok, appear to be running, just not banning. It had been working fine before that and no changed were made to the configuration by me. Maybe an update? My configuration is in the jail.local file so it didn't change. I had been searching for a reason for this without much luck. Yesterday I installed gamin... Code: aptitude install python-gamin and changed the config for fail2band backend=polling to backend=gamin and restarted. All working well again. I don't know why the polling stopped working (the log files are all in the same places).
