ok, I may be lame but I'm having problems growing an intact array.
I'm fairly certain I am in an LVM+RAID1 environment.

right off the bat, after I chroot /mnt/sysimage from rescue mode
1- I cannot modprobe anything listed.
    2- I found mdadm.conf is only in/etc...ok I figured that out. haha
3- /etc/init.d/lvm start says lvm is not a known service.
I really thought I setup raid1 in an lvm environment when I installed fedora 10. Am I not thinking??

    TIA

When I created the partitions during load, I missed the right most digit so it only formatted a 5g drive instead of 250g (rough explanation).

    Ok, you're running a RAID1 system with LVM. :)

What Live-CD or rescue system did you try? Knoppix?

ok good, so far I'm NOT crazy haha.

I ran my original fedora 10 i386 install DVD, booted into rescue mode, and chroot /mnt/sysimage

My first command was to modprobe xxxx. That gave me an error..I can't remember but it was someting with modprob.dep like it didn't know what I was talking about.

    Try Knoppix instead.
