ok, I may be lame but I'm having problems growing an intact array. I'm fairly certain I am in an LVM+RAID1 environment. right off the bat, after I chroot /mnt/sysimage from rescue mode 1- I cannot modprobe anything listed. 2- I found mdadm.conf is only in/etc...ok I figured that out. haha 3- /etc/init.d/lvm start says lvm is not a known service. I really thought I setup raid1 in an lvm environment when I installed fedora 10. Am I not thinking?? TIA
Did you try this tutorial? http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-resize-lvm-software-raid1-partitions-shrink-and-grow What are the outputs of Code: cat /proc/mdstat and Code: lvdisplay on the real system (not on the rescue system)?
yes sir, that's the tutorial...I wouldn't dare try something like that without your help haha. cat /proc/mdstat Personalities : [raid1] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] md0 : active raid1 sda1[0] sdb1[1] 200704 blocks [2/2] [UU] md1 : active raid1 sda2[0] sdb2[1] 312367744 blocks [2/2] [UU] unused devices: <none> lvdisplay --- Logical volume --- LV Name /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 VG Name VolGroup00 LV UUID lmDuKs-TH0N-OQ7d-mjtO-8eZJ-MM0L-it3Vz5 LV Write Access read/write LV Status available # open 1 LV Size 5.84 GB Current LE 187 Segments 1 Allocation inherit Read ahead sectors auto - currently set to 256 Block device 253:0 --- Logical volume --- LV Name /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 VG Name VolGroup00 LV UUID fNX5ND-OxIj-YKqA-VjHx-4Gix-M0HJ-SbzP0R LV Write Access read/write LV Status available # open 1 LV Size 7.81 GB Current LE 250 Segments 1 Allocation inherit Read ahead sectors auto - currently set to 256 Block device 253:1 --- Logical volume --- LV Name /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol02 VG Name VolGroup00 LV UUID ZrQFlb-XCg7-QT5o-pJyd-yFnp-lz12-WzRIfS LV Write Access read/write LV Status available # open 1 LV Size 11.72 GB Current LE 375 Segments 1 Allocation inherit Read ahead sectors auto When I created the partitions during load, I missed the right most digit so it only formatted a 5g drive instead of 250g (rough explanation).
ok good, so far I'm NOT crazy haha. I ran my original fedora 10 i386 install DVD, booted into rescue mode, and chroot /mnt/sysimage My first command was to modprobe xxxx. That gave me an error..I can't remember but it was someting with modprob.dep like it didn't know what I was talking about.
