Is there a faster way to transfer file from a WinXP Pro and a Centos box I my nic cards and Router support up to 1 gig per second transfers but I have no idea how to get so I can use it. Any ideas?
regular ftp program WS_FTP connected to ftpd useing the instranet ip of the server. I figured useing the intranet ip to conect would let me use atleast half of the 1gig per second internal network speeds. its slower then connecting to a sever 3k miles away.
I am new at this type of stuff, but I think NFS is good enough. If the CentOS is the fileserver, you make it the NFS server and the winxp the client. I also believe you can do it the other way around with xp as server, and centos as client. Not sure if it would get up to 1gb/s, but it should be faster than FTP.
There is a tutorial on this site that gives you step by step instructions like any other tutorial here. Search for it above.
