I am planning to install a new Debian server. My goal is to have raid1 functioning so that if either disk fail it will still boot. Server = Supermicro with fakeraid, so I would like to use Linux software raid. There are 2x 250 GB SATA disks. I'd like to know more about partitioning and grub. I read articles about this but did not understand it all. This is a test server so no harm done in any case. Partitions: Should I create similar software raid partitions on both disk ? I mean for / and /boot ... Grub: What about this, If I understand it correctly grub will be installed only on first disk ? If first disk fails it won't boot ? Thanks, Jysse
