    Hey guys,

I've recently hired a webadmin that I going to start doing all of the web design / changes on some client sites hosted by ispconfig3. I tried creating the webadmin a ftp account and I created it in my default website directory. Unfortunately it only gives them access to the /var/www/mysite area and they can't read / write to the entire /var/www directory. How do I go about creating them an FTP account to get to the entire /var/www area?

    Thanks!

Thats the expoected behaviour of this function. A FTP account is for the website were you created it.

you cant. As every website files are owned by a different linux system user, it makes no sense to create a ftp user for /var/www as this user wont be able to upluad any files to the sites anyway.

Create a FTP user for every site. If your designer uses a tool like dreamweaver for building and managing the sites, he needs a ftp user per site anyway.
