Gd2

I am trying to use Coppermine photo gallery and I cannot get the captcha to work. It says the following:

Captchas will only work if GD2 is available on your server with FreeType support enabled.

Can anyone help me install GD2? I found a couple threads but none of them were very helpful.

Please install the php-gd package with your distribution's package manager and restart Apache.

GD is the graphical library necessary for dynamic creation of images, which is necessary for generating graphic captcha (I say GD I mean GD2 in your case).
