I have been using ISPconfig for couple of months now.. It is working great.. But recently, I have come to notice that it sometimes take very long time to retrive emails from external accounts. I have installed ISPconfig3 on Debian 8 and as per the system log run-getmai.sh is running every 5 mins. There are no errors in mail-logs too. But it oddly takes very long time to retrive emails. Initially I thought that might be issue with one specific email account but as I have noticed recently thats not the case. I am not sure why getmail won't retrieve messages when it is running smoothly every other 5 min.
The permissions must be ok. Otherwise, you won't get email at all. It might be that the systems where you fetch mail are responding slow or you decided to keep mails on the other systems so their amount of mails grows over the time.
I checked the mail error log again.. and it shows below message.. From that instance the getmail stops retrieving emails.. "getmail: getmailOperationError error (POP error (-ERR [SYS/TEMP] Internal error occurred. Refer to server log for more information.))" Syslog and mail.log shows the same message at particular time. Any idea what it could be? /var/log/message at around same time shows rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="8.4.2" x-pid="610" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com"] rsyslogd was HUPed Oct 25 debian rsyslogd0: action 'action 17' resumed (module 'builtin: mpipe') [try http://www.rsyslog.com/e/0 ] Oct 25 debian rsyslogd-2359: action 'action 17' resumed (module 'builtin: mpipe') [try http://www.rsyslog.com/e/2359 ] rsyslogd-2007: action 'action 17' suspended, next retry is Wed Oct 25 08:35:31 2017 [try http://www.rsyslog.com/e/2007 ]
