I had XFCE and installed Gnome, so now I have the option to use both upon login. Gnome is much nicer appearance, with GUIs, etc. Should I just uninstall XFCE and if I do uninstall XFCE, could that give me problems with my os, as XFCE is the default?
Don't know what distro you are using but usually it will not cause any problems if you remove a DE/WM you don't need. When the distro you are using offers a Gnome version, might consider reinstalling with that version instead.
