Can someone explain to me the differences and the heirachy of clients, users and resellers? And what is "good practice"? Thanks
Users are not part of any hierarchy. The hierarchy in ispconfig is: admin > reseller > client users are only the holder of the login name and password of a admin, reseller or client. If you need resellers or not depends on your business model.
Okay, but can't clients have clients too? And can resellers create websites/emails etc. directly under themselves?
A client which has clients is a reseller. yes. Why did you just not tried it, would be much faster then asking here
But then i dont see the difference So the only difference between a reseller and a client, is which table they stick in?
Wikipedia, Reseller: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reseller "Another common example on the is in the web hosting area, where a reseller will purchase bulk hosting from a supplier with the intention of reselling it to a number of consumers at a profit."
I know what a reseller is, but in technical perspective, ISPConfig doesn't difference between client and reseller?
In technical perspective its exactly what wikipedia describes. A reseller is a client with the ability to have subclients. Without that ability, he wont be able to resell anything ergo he wont be a reseller then. Why dont you just try it out?
Okay, thanks, i will. I already have clients, who have subclients, but I just discovered the reseller tab today.
The you should have noticed that your clients which have clients are now listed as resellers and not as clients anymore. We just split the list as poeple overlooked the ability of resellers in ispconfig and complained that the reseller function was missing.
