    Hello all,

I have configured samba as PDC and users get their respective home directories when they login. But, i am facing problems storing files, accessing few applications locally. I am using WinXP - SP2 client.

    1) How to control or assign permissions to the local hard drive on the client? The users who login to the domain have access only to the my documents folder and nothing else.
    2) Users are also having trouble accessing the pen drives on few occasions, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. And they don't have permissions to format the pen drive! Is this something to do with the local devices option.
    3) Few applications like AVG antivirus, Adobe photoshop, pagemaker etc need to access to the program directory (the location where the application is installed in WinXP) and few files and need write access for the application to work properly. How do i configure my samba so that all users have access to all applications installed on winXP client without any problems.
    4) How to create a common profile for all smb users? Whats happening now is, i have all the applications configured properly and is ready to use, but when a user logs into the domain, the windows applications are reconfigured. For example, the browser proxy is not set, the antivirus scheduled scan is changed, update settings etc.. Every change i made to the application are lost. I want to be able to configure samba so that when any new user logs in, the new user should get all the required applications configured and ready to use.

Many Thanks and sorry for the long thread.
    Avinash
