i just tried the howto for the new ubuntu version. i can't connect and in mail.log this is what it says: Oct 22 20:11:32 mail imapd: chdir Maildir: No such file or directory did i forget something in the howto? i ran these commands: postconf -e 'home_mailbox = Maildir/' postconf -e 'mailbox_command =' /etc/init.d/postfix restart but there is no change in the home folder....
Try sending your self a message first. Courier will only create the user once mail has been sent to it.
i tried that. and sending out is working but when i try to connect to imap i get this message in evolution: Unable to authenticate to IMAP server. Server unexpectedly disconnected: Unknown error this is what the mail.log file says after i tpress the send/recieve button: Oct 22 21:24:11 mail imapd: Connection, ip=[::ffff:10.0.0.1] Oct 22 21:24:18 mail imapd: chdir Maildir: No such file or directory
Are you sure your server is getting that piece of mail successfully? Check in /var/log/mail.log to make sure it picks up that piece of mail. Also check to see if /home/vmail/domain.com/user is created for you....(don't create it manually if its not there though)...
i tried to change to tls instead of no encryption in evolution and it gave me some different errors: Error while Scanning folders in "IMAP server mail.morganwaage.no". I think you missed a step in the howto cause your mail server wants to relay mail for morganwaage.no to somewhere else hence the relaying denied message. You need to define your domain in your mail server config so it knows to accept mail for that domain.
