Hi, this isn't actually about ispconfig directly, but obviously a large number of participants on here are using ispconfig as the basis of their own hosting company, and i've seen quite a few state that they use hetzner as their server provider. i have a few questions for those hetzner users: 1, do you use dedicated servers or cloud servers (vps) 1b. if you use cloud servers, do you use default vcpu's, or dedicated vcpu's 1c. if you use cloud servers, do you use NVMe SSD RAID or Ceph 2, how does their speed compare with similarly specced offerings from AWS / google cloud etc. 3, if you're using vps's, is it easy to switch an existing vps from one size to another? or do you need to create a new vps and migrate services? 4, their EBS storage appears to be around 1/2 the price of AWS EBS storage, how does it compare in terms of speed (iops / data transfer ), and reliability? 5, are the EBS storage options also available for the dedicated servers?
I have had a whole cluster at hetzner in the past and currently only some slave nodes. 1: Cloud (VPS) 1b: default. 1c: NVME 2: Usually works fine. Only had some trouble connecting sometimes, never found out why and didn't see it in the last months. (Other users had no problem, could be a local issue) 3: I have done this once and it worked fine. 4: (this is not called EBS @ hetzner afaik) I don't have any EBS storage from them anymore but it worked really well for a small webserver in the past. I think you might find https://www.howtoforge.com/community/threads/experience-with-ovh-and-hetzner.86057 interesting
If you are running a hosting company, dedicated server or at least vcpu is preferred. I personally use basic vps with shared vcpu and nvme and the speed is good.
