When I host a domain on my webserver does it need a special NS or leave it with the original registrar NS? What would be the Address of this domain? Ubuntu 9.04: Can my resolv.conf nameserver be any other then my router address (192.168.1.1)? Still trying to learn the basics.
1) Either, as long as it resolves to the IP where you are hosting it 2) Yes, but some ISPs block outgoing DNS requests, and some public DNS servers have been removed. If you are getting your DNS list via dhcp you'll need to edit the dhcp client config file and tell it not to pull DNS servers, or edit your /etc/resolv.conf file and make it immutable (chattr +i /etc/resolv.conf) so it doesn't get overwritten.
