I need to block out a couple entire states from viewing a website, or better yet certain pages of a website, and i cant seem to find any tutorials in linux to do it.
Use mod_geoip and the maxmind database, http://www.maxmind.com/app/mod_geoip i think there is a tutorial here on howtoforge to set it up with debian.
thanks i was looking at maxmind already but cant find a tut on here- found it thanks, ill see if geo lite city can get working on it
You do not need a tutorial, the page explains most, and the README included in the tarball. The http://www.blockacountry.com/ is not accurate, i just checked there SA networks that are not listed as SA networks.
hey thanks for the info, i tried maxmind and can only get as far as countries, im trying to block out LA, NY and NJ from the site. if i have to once i get it down to region ill just block CA NY and NJ
other solution is to use this ->http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/ip_ranges/get_ranges.php<- to generate the ip range of a country and use your firewall to bloack those IPs.
yea thats almost what im looking for, but i need it down to city or at least state, does anyone know a site that does that?
ok so essentially i will have to do it by small blocks of IP's but i dont want aol looking at this site anyway bastards never liked them lmao
