I have Fedora 10 installed on my machine. After installing some updates, my video drivers seemed to have either disappeared or stopped working. I went and re-installed the nVidia drivers, and it asked me to log off and log back on. I did so, and now I can't see anything. My monitor is telling me "Out of Range". I turned off the computer and put in the liveCD and turned the computer back on. My monitor works fine with that, but I can't seem to locate anything on my local hard drive. The only things that appear are from the liveCD. How can I access my local hard drive using the liveCD, and once I do that, how can I change the driver settings for my video? If nothing else, I would at least like to backup my email before having to reformat/reinstall. Please help. Thanks.
This guide should give you the idea: http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-reset-a-forgotten-root-password-with-knoppix Go to /etc/X11 in the chroot in the Live system and check if there's a backup of your old xorg.conf. If not, you'll have to modify the current xorg.conf.
