I followed the perfect server guide for ubuntu 7.10 all the way through to the end of ispconfig. I've been trying to change the send port for e-mail to port 465. I've searched the forums, google, etc..., but nothing i've found seems to work. I tried changing the port in /etc/services, I've tried changing /etc/postfix/master.cf

I've tried commenting out these lines:
    "#smtps inet n - - - - smtpd
    # -o smtpd_tls_wrappermode=yes
    # -o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes"

    I've tried changing "smtp inet n - - - - smtpd" to
    "465 inet n - - - - smtpd"

I've tried a lot of different things, but it always results in ispconfig not being able to find the smtp server.

    Can anyone help?

ISPConfig just checks port 25, so it's normal that it shows Postfix as offline if you change the port.

You can change the port ISPConfig is checking by modifying the /usr/local/ispconfig/server/mods-available/monitor_core_module.inc.php

The function monitorServices() checks the services. The SMTP service is checked on server localhost, port 25 (_checkTcp('localhost', 25)) this can be modded. But... use this at your own risk!

    Cheers,
