How to backup an ISPCONFIG 3 RAID 1 array

I have a Dell PowerEdge 1950 server that I believe can only be run as RAID. I have a LEVEL 1 MIRRORED ARRAY setup and the backup plan is the following:

    1) Pull drive #1
    2) Replace drive #1 with a spare drive of same size
    3) Let the BIOS rebuild the array
    4) Keep the drive #1 that was pulled in step one as the backup!

Next time I backup repeat the steps above except pull drive #2 and rebuild that one. This way drives #1 and #2 will keep rotating and stay as fresh as possible.

Previously I use to run a single drive system and would just ghost an image via G4U from one drive to the other, then keep the ghosted drive as the new running drive to keep things fresh. Now with the hardware RAID built into the OS this seems like the most reasonable method as I really want an image backup versus just the files. I mean when things go bad it's not just the data, it's all the hours that you needed to get that configuration that you lost too!

What is your opinion of my plan to just keep rebuilding drives to and then leave the rebuilt system run as the live system while keeping the drive you pulled as a good backup?

Thanks in advance for any replies!
