I just realized I've actually never used the DNS part of my ISPCFG3 server so I tried disabling it.

I'm running ISPCFG3 on a server setup according to the perfect Debian wheezy + nginx howto.

I have disabled DNS and VSERVER from ISPCFG Panel => System => Server Services but am unsure if this is all that is needed?

Now it looks like this: http://screencast.com/t/4n6TUPWEXKk

Bind is still running, is that how its supposed to be?

    Hi

You can disable the service like this, additionally you can disable the services as follows

Choose the service you want to use & which to stop

    Br//

Does the DNS server serve any other purpose? I mean I never used that part in ISPCFG3 because all clients registered their domains elsewhere and use their own NS... Just checking whether it serves other purposes too...
