    Hi,

I have searched the how to's before posting this and not found anything helpful. That's not to say there isn't something in there somewhere, but ...

My objective is simple - to be able to trigger a shell script when a particular file is opened (for read). The shell script is actually going to write to the file, but that's incidental.

I have done some external searching too and all I could come up with is possibly the use of fileevent but this would appear to require some C skills which I don't possess.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    MD.
