    After installing VMware Server 1.0.10 on Kubuntu 10.04 and typing: gksudo vmware in a terminal, I see the error message: /usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgio-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_thread_gettime

    A window appears and disappears quickly.

    another note:

    If I type vmware in a terminal (without the gksudo) as a regular user, I see the following:

    kde4-config: /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libgcc_s.so.1/libgcc_s.so.1: version `GCC_4.2.0' not found (required by /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6)
    kde4-config: /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libgcc_s.so.1/libgcc_s.so.1: version `GCC_4.2.0' not found (required by /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6)
    /usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgio-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_thread_gettime
