    Hi

    What issue you are facing?
See in my case I simply insatlled the VMPlayer by clicking on the URL fiven on the http://www.howtoforge.com/import_vmware_images Further downloaded the bundle file in my case Ubuntu_linux_64, made it executable
    run the set-up
    as
& finally imported the .vmx imge.

You can download your OS dependent Vmware package similarily.

The guide is absolutely correct, but you talk about a different topic then the guide is made for. The guide is about importing vmware images in vmware player, you talk about importing virtualbox (not vmware!) images in vmware player. virtualbox is diffenet virtualisation software then the vmware plyer, you can get virtualbox here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
for free to run virtualbox images on your server or desktop.

    Thanks for your help.

    1.
Firts of all, check the following url:

    http://www.howtoforge.com/list-of-downloadable-vmware-images

Is this link for VMware Player images or VirtualBox images?

Can You tell me which one is Vmware Player image?

All Perfect Servers are VirtualBox images?

    2.
How can I find VMware Player images?

    3.
Since all images are VirtualBox images, how can I open or convert VirtualBox images into Vmware Player format? That was my question in the first post! I don't want to use VirtualBox.

    Thanks!

All the images on that page are compatible with vmware products, as they use the vmware vmdk file format for the virtual machine. Older images are build with vmware server, images from 2012 + 2013 are build with virtualbox (they use the same vmdk file format from vmware, so they are compatible with virtualbox as well as vmware) and the last image for the ubuntu 14.04 perfcet server is build with vmware workstation and is exported in the vendor neutral ovf format. All following images that we publish will be in ovf format as they can be used with vmware, virtualbox and microsoft virtualisation producs.

If a image has been created with virtualbox, then it contains the virtual machine in vmware vmdk format but it does not contain the vmware configuration file, this means that you have to select in vmware when you create a new virtual machine that this new virtual machine shall use the existing vmdk file. The vmdk file is from vmware, so it does not has to be converted.

These steps don't work in VMWare Player!!! They work in VMWare Workstation. What can I do if I want to use VMWare Player?
    Thanks for your help.
