Being new to Ubuntu I followed the instructions on how to set up my spare machine as a server to my main PC and laptops. All is great and i can access my server using Putty.
However I would like to also use the Gnome desktop on the server machine and access this using VNC viewer.
I obviously need help to do this ... I have the full Ubuntu 8.04 installed on the machine so how do I start the desktop and then setup VNC

    thanks in advance

You can install the desktop like this:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
    Take a look here: http://www.howtoforge.com/configure-remote-access-to-your-ubuntu-desktop
