Hi Everyone, I wonder, if anybody knows how to switch DNS-zones to the second ISPConfig-server, if the first has failed? I have been using an ISPconfig3-Mirror-Configuration of two Wheezies. Is there any automated standard procedure for that case within the ISPconfig3? Any Information is highly appreciated! Thank you.
There is no need to switch dns records, they exist on both servers. You set the first server as pimary dns and the second server as secondary dns. The dns clients handle such failures automaticaly, when a server is unreachable, then the other dns server is queried.
Will the server respond on dns-queries with the info from the secondary dns? Thank you till! Does it mean I have to place the IP of the secondary server in all the secondary A-records? Will the secondary server respond on dns-queries with the info from the secondary dns-zones automatically? How does it know, that it is the secondary one? Sorry for silly questions!
