Ill choose to give a chance to 2.2.6... i dont know how to tell you that.. but... its running backwards... i cant do ANYTHING whitout touching the mysql database !!! everything keeps on state "n" forever !! what did you do with this version??? i was almost happy with 2.2.4 ! The recycle bin keeps "updating" for 7 or 8 minutes ! and it doesnt delete anything !! i need to get into the phpmyadmin to delete the records manually !! i cant give THAT to my clients !!! how can i uninstall it to install the bogus but functional 2.2.4 ?????
I am not negative about version 2.2.6, but i have to confirm that i had problems with the recycle bins too in the same way you described. Have a look here: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6971&highlight=delete+client I also have to confirm that i had to delete some info manually via phpMyAdmin. I think we must have a look at it. Who else has this experience?
No, its beyond there... i want to believe the problem is the CentOS 4.4... there is no /home/www folder, ispconfig logs are "weird"... i will try to install 4.3, i hope this version recognize the hard disks too...
Hi Fobicodam, Thanks for your reaction. I thought that i recognised the behaviour of the recycle bin. I think i do not have to worry, but i still can not declare why i had to remove items manually via phpMyadmin. (By pressing the recycle bin, the items where not deleted). Good luck with solving your problem.
I guess my recycle bin doesnt clean itself because there werent (?) anything to delete... the info was just in the database, there were no www folder to delete..
The releases from 2.2.4 to 2.2.6 contain only bugfixes, no major changes. The recycle can never delete records with status "n", this is the same behaviour in 2.2.4 as well. The question is why the items remain in status 'n'? If the status is not set to "" (empty), then the writeconf script has not processed the items. In most cases, the problem is a segfault in PHP: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3695 These segfaults seem to affect only some installations under redhat.
Yes, I see.. but im tired to give linux chances... i think ispconfig is a great software, too bad it doesnt run on Windows. Ill keep linux for php but "under your own risk" warning.
Make sure that you get a "Service Provider License Agreement (SPLA)" with it This is what me got to use Linux... Besides the SPLA there is nothing wrong with Windows stuff!
Obviously, i had to buy licenses when any linux distribution installs on any of my servers, i had to buy windows licences to install vmware to run linux. Now, im tired to fight and my own email server is almost ready to test.
You dont have to buy linux licences and you dont have to use vmware when you install linux directly on your server.
I was referring to his "Sorry, i cant take more risks here, ill install Windows." part with the licences
It was my intentions 6 months ago, but linux (all dist.) seems to have problems with a lot of hardware and i couldnt install it on any server, especialy cause linux doesnt recognize my sata2 hds or my compaq array scsi controller. Windows detect any and every hard over earth, so, i install vmware under windows. Plus, i can get via terminal server to the windows and gain access to the linux console, on a 100% linu enviroment you cant do that
Support for CentOS 4.4 @ Fobicodam, Maybe you change your mind one more time when you read this: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7008
Ive already read that thread, but the centos 4.4 incompatibility is just one of my reasons to not use linux anymore. After install it and ispconfig without errors (except the version) nothing runs fine, postfix doesnt route, folders were not created.. Its not an easy choice, think about that, i prefer to develop an email server under windows than to keep fighting linux. Its not an easy choice at all.
Fobicodam, It is a pity that you have a bad experience with Linux because it does not support your hardware or something like that. So, i do understand that you want to use an OS that give you the hardware support you need. In your case it is Windows. Maybe in the near future (if you've time and inspiration for it) you can give another Linux distro a try. Like myself, I've tried different distros too, and sometimes i had the same problems like you've now. But.... One day you will find the Linux distro which will support your hardware and is supported by ISPConfig. On that moment Linux brings you more perspective and you will love it! I found my distro too, it's is Debian, definitely!
I didnt get it but i believe its a joke if you have a "dont running" or "insecure" windows based server its because you must go to create a hippie community and leave technology :-D If you do a fine configuration for windows NT4/2000/2003 you can be 100% certain that server will run forever ) no hangs, no "misterious config changes", no missing mails, no hackers retrieving your pass files, as im used to see on linux systems But its me, i dont want to change your minds !! keep developing and testing linux, call me when you finnish it !! if you need some help ill be there to help but ill not install it as a main OS for any server until i get an error free version
