I performed the 32 bit install of opensuse 11 and I just picked the KDE option and it worked pretty well. There were no issues with the install and it made configuring things like the firewall and ip addresses easier. I would have had to dig for commands to do basic things, but instead I could try different things quickly and not worry about hosing things up using the command line. I can't imaging things would be that different for the 64 bit of 11.1, so I would guess that it will work.
