Hi, something that aparently was never discussed and i have been wondering about for quite some time. How long would be to setup a network system for online services? 3 Servers, 1 Linux Firewall Router: Services: VPS + Mailserver (full featured) + Webserver (full featured) + Linux firewall router (with rules, etc...) + DNS1 + DNS2 + Database server. + Portal website + hosting website + online store + social network site What would the the aproximate timeframe or typical installation time for it from unpacking to live production? Can someone give rough estimates? Would have to be a feature rich setup with all the tweaks and kinkies Cheers, Alex
Well Hi Falko, i meant from unpacking the boxes to live production including testing/programming. I know it is difficult to have a definite time frame but i was wondering about rough estimates. Of course it can be broken down into phases. Hardware setup Software install Programming Testing What are your thoughts on this? thank you in advance Alex
IF you know exactly what you need and how to set it up, hardware and software setup can be done in one or two days. But I can't say anything about programming/testing - that depends on your project and can take from a few days to years...
Well, thanks for your answer Falko, i think your time frame is correct. If you do not hit any problems, it should be as you said, but for people that are limited in knowledge, i am sure it will take much more time. I wish more people would answer with their personal experiences, plenty of views, only you that answered. For me personally, it took me 2 weeks to setup all i said on my first post, mainly because i lack php knowledge and i had to flash learn it for the hosting part... it is a pain when you do not know something and feel lost.
