Okay, so I followed the Perfect setup word for word... and I have it setup on a PIII 733 w/ 256mbRAM, etc...

This is setup on my friend's network actually and is his machine 100%.. He's using a windows machine with 2 NICs as a gateway until i get this working well. So basically I drove the 50 miles, installed SSH and port forwarded 80, 81, 22, 443, 21 and so forth..

So i got home and SSHd in and did the install. If i type in his IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:81 i can login.

It's setup with server1.example.com like the install said...

I registered a domain for him through godaddy... what do i do now to get it to point to this IP address and how do i get it to resolve? what steps am i missing?

Does your friend have a static IP address?

If he does, then follow this guide:
    http://www.howtoforge.com/ispconfig_dns_godaddy

It will allow him to run his own DNS server, using ISPConfig and therefore be able to create all his DNS entries locally.
